From the time of Claudius Ptolemy to the present a host of systems have been evolved and tried, but most have been found wanting, and both medieval and modern prognosticators have worked laboriously to revive the ancient method. Therefore, while not by any means believing this to be a perfect system without flaws, I feel considerable confidence in presenting the Hermetic System.’
He then explained: ‘In fact, astrology, like every other science, is progressive. Careful tabulation and comparison of data will reveal in the future, I am sure, many valuable facts now undreamed of. And I am not advocating the Hermetic System because of its antiquity, but because I have found it the most reliable system known at the present day.’
Then in April 1924 the Brotherhood of Light astrological research department was established to go in search of the facts of astrology. It investigated the astrological legacy bequeathed by the ancients; developed a research method; statistically analyzed thousands of birth charts; refined its research method; and by 1934 the Hermetic system of progressing a birth chart that Elbert wrote about in 1917 had undergone major revision.
Statistical research discovered the facts of astrology; and because astrology is a natural science the chart didn’t act in isolation. Events occurred in a social setting and this introduced conditioning by experience and current circumstance into the research equation.
In December, 1942 Elbert Benjamine explained: ‘The Church of Light believes that people should have the facts about astrology, the facts about extrasensory perception, the facts about induced emotion and the facts about directed thinking. The greatest opponent of mankind, for it prevents proper precautionary actions in any endeavor where it exists, is ignorance of the facts. Ours is the Church of LIGHT because it works to dispel, with facts, the darkness which is synonymous with ignorance.’
In 1946 the relative measurement of birth chart data using astrodynes eliminated guesswork and uncertainty: and by 1950 the astrology of the ancients that defined astrology world in 1881 had been given an Aquarian age makeover by Elbert Benjamine and the Church of Light astrological research department.
