The new Moon cycle

The Moon is a natural satellite of the Earth and as it orbits the Earth its appearance waxes and wanes between full illumination at the full Moon and full darkness at the new Moon. Its astrological influence is profound.

A lunar month or lunation is the time that elapses between successive new Moons. The average time is 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes (roughly 29½ days).  So, there are a little over 12 lunar months each calendar year.

The time of the new Moon commences the lunar month and the Moon’s cycle in global astrology.

Unlike the major cycle charts, which commence at the time a planet moves from south to north declination, the Moon cycle commences at the moment the Moon is conjunction the Sun. The details of this astrological event plus the current Moon phase, the times of the Moon’s phases where you live, and other information pertinent to global astrology can be found at timeanddate.com.

A new Moon chart is constructed for a specified time and place but unlike the major cycle charts (except the Sun) its influence is not restricted to a limited number of channels.

The planets by their house positions in the chart reveal their influence on specified departments of mundane life and events occur as the Sun or Moon by transit progression form aspects with the planets.

Events, designated by the houses, have a 48-hour time-frame so they can occur 24 hours before or after the time the aspect trigger reaches peak power. The most significant events are mapped by the prominent planets and strongest aspects in the chart.

But there are two important factors in regard to the new Moon chart.

  • It plays a subordinate role to the major cycle charts.

The influence of the major cycle charts, being restricted to a limited number of channels, is superior to the new Moon chart so during the Moon cycle, the most important acts of violence, conflicts, accidents and fires are timed by aspects in the Mars cycle.

The most important events to do with finances, trade, banks, diplomacy and religion are timed by aspects in the Jupiter cycle; and the most important events in regard to safety, security, economy, hardship and suffering are timed by aspects in the Saturn cycle.

The most important events concerning extremists, radicals, social unrest, protests, strikes and demonstrations are timed by aspects in the Uranus cycle. The most important events relating to schemes, promotion, aviation, oil, gas, drugs, chaos and confusion are timed by aspects in the Neptune cycle. And the most important events to do with universal welfare, humanitarian issues, groups, division, crime, corruption, inversion and disinformation are timed by aspects in the Pluto cycle. And

  • It times when events can occur in the Sun cycle.

The new Moon cycle provides a general forecast of events during the lunar month with each planet in the chart by its house location placing its signature on a specified department of mundane life. And if the same department of life (house) in the Sun cycle chart is active, due to a planet being located there, important events related to it can occur during the Moon’s 29-day cycle.

So, important events mapped in the Sun cycle chart are more inclined to occur when the house mapping the event is also strongly activated in the Moon cycle chart.

In a very competitive and busy news environment it’s the major events mapped in the major cycle charts that grab the headlines so it’s difficult for an event of national importance, mapped in a nation’s new Moon chart, to gain international attention. And providing a reliable forecast of a new Moon chart does require a thorough understanding of a country’s current political, economic and domestic circumstances.

But major events of the Mars, Jupiter and Saturn type do occur when there is no aspect in their respective cycle charts and when this occurs the event will be traced back to the new Moon cycle chart.
