2007-2008 Global Financial Crisis

The Aquarian Age internet will tell you that the 2007-08 financial crisis was the most severe worldwide economic collapse since the 1929 Wall Street crash that began the Great Depression.

It was years in the making and originated in America (again) as a result of cheap credit and lax lending standards that fueled a housing price bubble (Jupiter-Neptune).

It triggered the collapse of the US housing market (house 4), caused major banks to fail (house 2), threatened to destroy the international financial system (Jupiter) and precipitated the great recession of 2007-09 (Saturn).

In America wealth inequality worsened significantly as the poverty rate (Saturn) increased from 12.5% in 2007 to more than 15% in 2010; and US stock prices fell by 57% between 2007 and 2009.

The GFC impacted countries differently. Spain, Greece, Ireland, Italy and Portugal experienced a sovereign debt crisis. Iceland and Latvia were particularly hard hit by recession while and China, India and Indonesia experienced little economic slowdown.

In America the Federal Reserve and the Bush administration worked hard to avoid a complete collapse spending hundreds of billions of dollars to add liquidity to the financial markets. And in February 2008 the Obama administration pushed a $787 billion plan to create jobs.

(In America’s chart progressed Sun trine progressed Saturn was at peak power September 30, 2008. Saturn, the planet of bankruptcies, is the cusp ruler of house 8 [loans].)

2009

The financial crisis of the Great Recession worsened in 2009. In March, the US stock market (house 5) plummeted even more, panicking investors who thought the worst was over. Foreclosures rose, despite government programs that just didn’t do enough. In April Chrysler filed for bankruptcy and in June General Motors declared bankruptcy and was forced to accept partial government ownership through a bailout program. In October, the unemployment rate in America rose to 10% for the first time since 1982

From February 14, 2009 to March 10, 2010 Jupiter was conjunction Neptune in the sky > peak power dates were May 27, July 10 and December 21, 2009.

And from August 15, 2009 to November 25, 2010 Saturn was square Pluto > peak power dates were November 15, 2009 and January 31, 2010

And the GFC went on long after 2009.

From 2007 to 2011 progressed Jupiter conjunction birth chart Neptune in the Aquarian Age chart scripted the global financial crisis and on February 2, 2025 progressed Jupiter moves to form a conjunction aspect with progressed Neptune > peak power date is September 12, 2030.

The aspect is back but the environmental setting in 2025 is quite different to that in 2007: a cost-of-living crisis, high inflation, record debt levels and Donald Trump’s threatened trade war with China, Canada and Mexico. That said, Jupiter conjunction Neptune 0.2 forecasts financial turbulence, higher prices, currency turmoil, investor uncertainty and maybe a financial crisis. All it needs is a trigger event to set it off.
