America’s political landscape

There are many minor political parties in America but the Republican and Democratic Parties dominate the political landscape.

According to the internet the character of a Republican is associated with several key traits and beliefs: Liberty and individualism (Uranus), individual freedom and personal responsibility; economic prosperity (Jupiter); limited government intervention; and the preservation (Saturn) of American values and traditions.

And the character and key traits of a Democrat are associated with: individual rights (Uranus); progressive (Uranus) economic and social policies; equality; greater civil rights for minorities; social welfare (Pluto); environmental protection (Saturn); and the rule of law that ensures government actions are accountable to the people.

And back in the 1920s the consensus of astrological opinion concluded that the Republican Party was ruled by Jupiter and the Democratic Party was ruled by Saturn.

It was based on a broad, general view: Republican stood for business (house 10) and the rich (Jupiter); and Democratic for the working class (Moon and house 6) and poor (Saturn).

And there’s plenty of evidence to confirm that important events involving the Republican party occur when progressed Jupiter forms a powerful aspect in the Jupiter cycle; and important events involving the Democratic Party occur when progressed Saturn forms a strong aspect in the Saturn cycle.

Jupiter and Saturn are the business/financial planets and it appears this Jupiter-Saturn rulership classification was based solely on each party’s approach to fiscal-economic policy.

But in 2025 working out the astrological forces influencing the two parties and their political philosophies and agendas isn’t that cut and dried.

The Republican Party might support business but it has a conservative political philosophy and Jupiter isn’t conservative; and the Democratic Party might support labor but it has a liberal political philosophy and Saturn isn’t liberal. So, this basic Jupiter-Saturn rulership has become very blurred.

In 2025 the Republican Party has conservative political, economic and social views (Saturn). It prefers smaller government (Saturn) with most community services being provided by the private sector operating in a free market (Jupiter).

It prefers less taxes, less spending and tax cuts for business (house 10). Its philosophy is justice based (Saturn). It’s opposed to gay marriage, abortion and embryonic stem cell research (Saturn). And it supports the right to bear arms and the death penalty (Mars). So, identifying the Republican Party with Jupiter doesn’t quite add up.

And the Democratic Party has liberal political, economic and social views (Jupiter and Uranus). It prefers larger government, more regulation and the providing of community services like health care (Jupiter and Pluto).

It prefers more taxes and more government spending (Jupiter) and supports gay marriage, abortion and embryonic stem-cell research (Uranus). So, identifying the Democratic Party with Saturn is drawing a very long bow.

And in 2025 when it comes to financial policy and spending the Republicans are frugal (Saturn) and the Democrats are generous (Jupiter).

So, in 2025 the Republican Party and its fiscal and social policies are more aligned with Saturn (and Mars) and the Democratic Party is more aligned with Jupiter (and Uranus). Which means that in the 1920s the astrologers got it wrong or since then there’s been a big change in the character of America’s major political parties.

Both parties have various birth times and dates.

The most often used data for the Republican Party is: July 6, 1854 Noon (or 1.01pm) LMT Jackson, Michigan 42N15; 84W25. It’s speculative. The know-all internet will tell you March 28, 1854 in Rippon, Wisconsin.

And the most often used data for the Democratic Party is: February 17, 1801 at 1.00pm LMT: Pennsylvania 40N00; 75W00. It’s speculative too. The internet will tell you January 8, 1828 in Baltimore, Maryland.
