To understand its real nature, it is necessary to observe its influence upon the higher mental plane. It inclines the individual to have little or no interest in money and material things: there’s often an active interest in the astral plane and its energies. It confers the ability to understand and utilize the occult forces of nature.
Uranus rules the set of mental factors designated as the individualistic group, embracing independence, originality, inventiveness, and unconventionality.
Uranus is a radical spirit and the true Uranian soul does not care for the opinions of others, nor for consequences. Their dauntless, intrepid spirit acts with perfect independence and confidence. It’s a disturbing force that tends to make the individual an object of comment, or subject to severe criticism.
Uranus craves freedom. It can’t live without it. It’s a mental state that’s liberated from the oppressive restrictions imposed by society.
The Uranus person thinks independently, does things differently, can dissociate and often goes it alone. They’re often advanced thinkers who excel in many ways because of their inborn gifts of intuition, inspiration, and clairvoyance. They find explanations and solutions where others see no light.
They have the ability to short-cut their reasoning. Instead of the ordinary slow objective mental process the reasoning is carried out by their unconscious mind. Having more complete data at its disposal conclusions come instantly and stream to objective consciousness as intuition.
The Uranus person is original and disruptive and at their best when swaying the multitude, or when engaged in some unusual or uncommon pursuit. They’re veritable reformers upon the plane they occupy in humanity and pay little attention to the conventionalities which surround them.
This power to influence others through personal magnetism is observed in politicians, lawyers and entrepreneurs. Through oratory or more intimate associations they attract others to their ideas. This often causes hostility with those who admire forms, customs, and the opinions of society. As a consequence, they often find themselves persecuted by those who seek to follow popular opinion.
Uranus is all about intellectual progress and when its progressive ideas benefit humanity it becomes a powerful force for spiritual progress.
Fascinating Uranus types
With Uranus you enter the world of eccentric thinking. There are many ways to satisfy your desire for individualism but unless your thinking is original and inventive you’re expressing a shallow form of eccentricity.
The true eccentric, the individual who knows they are different and feels comfortable with their eccentricity, is rare: estimates say 1 in 15,000 people.
The true eccentric has a character that is designed to be different. Unable to conform they deviate from the norm. They can’t follow the crowd. They can be shy and introverted or outgoing and extroverted; and they’re nonconforming, intelligent, highly curious, opinionated, outspoken, creative, and non-competitive.
They need little social approval, see the world as dull, predictable and dreary and are motivated to liven it up and make it a better place.
The true eccentric is usually absorbed in one or more hobbies or interests; has unusual eating habits and living arrangements; is not particularly interested in the opinions of others; is often a bad speller; and has an eccentric sense of humor.
They can marry but are very often single and are often the eldest child or an only child. And being eccentric doesn’t mean they’re not useful, happy and spiritual. Their eccentricity can be personally and socially rewarding.
Another Uranus type is the autotelic person who’s focused on the internal satisfaction reward they feel when doing what they love to do and not on the external financial reward.
Money provides little or no satisfaction for this person. They need few material possessions and little entertainment, comfort, power or fame simply because so much of what they do is already rewarding.
They are less dependent on the external environment for rewards. The satisfaction they feel when doing something far exceeds, and is far more exquisite than, the feeling response they feel when getting something.
Their focus is on the inner feeling of satisfaction and the expansion of intelligence and ability and not on the financial reward. And this automatically neutralizes feelings of fear, want and financial insecurity so the autotelic person is liberated from the fear of poverty (Saturn) and is not a slave to mental world financial insecurities.
When the life their living doesn’t provide big satisfaction rewards some souls depart from established custom and do their own thinking. They express their ingenuity through invention.
