Neptune is the upper-octave expression of Venus and as such relates to exquisite states of consciousness which the physical manifestations of love are unable to penetrate. They have their significance chiefly where the astral body is concerned.
Neptune is the upper-octave ruler of Pisces and in Greek mythology Venus and her son Cupid were strolling along the bank of the Euphrates River, when quite unexpectedly Typhon – a grisly monster with a hundred dragon’s heads – put in an unwelcomed appearance.
To escape the frightful Typhon creature, typical of Saturn, Cupid and Venus leaped into the water and transformed themselves into two fishes and to commemorate this event the Pisces fishes were placed in the sky.
Venus and Cupid represent love and the fishes into which they were transformed, being denizens of the water, signify emotions.
Love has a binding power and the ribbon by which the two Pisces fishes are united, to be true to the rulership of Neptune, must represent an actual invisible energy which unites them, but does not greatly hamper their movements.
Love manifests on various planes or levels. On the human plane, when love has developed between two persons of the opposite sex and there is natural harmony between the vibratory affinities of their finer astral bodies, aka inner natures, they easily and rather constantly tune in on each other’s vibratory rates.
Depending upon the activity of their inner forces, and the state of their spiritual development, a circuit or endless belt of energy forms between them which circulates as a continuous current of astral energy much as blood circulates through an individual’s physical body.
This circuit, as a current of life, possesses amazing potentialities commensurate to the height of the basic vibratory rates of the two people and the amount of energy generated by the love they have for each other.
It’s not uncommon for those in love to experience the blend of forces which develops into this current and there are some who are aware of its existence, but it chiefly belongs to the inner-astral-plane of life so mental discords tend to break it and physical sensations tend to dissolve it.
To persist it must be cultivated by developing and maintaining an intense and tender love. It thrives on feelings which have high noble, moral and spiritual qualities rather than those physical. Course feelings and gross passions will effectually destroy this delicate ribbon of energy.
Selfishness, portrayed by Typhon in the Greek legend, is so restrictive in its influence that when it is present even in minor degree, and even when not related to the object of affection, it tends to destroy this endless belt of love.
To maintain this eternal tie that binds those whose love has reached a plane where it can form such a ribbon of spiritual potentiality must expand their affections to embrace all creatures. The desire to destroy another, to deprive another of what is justly theirs, or to in any way cause suffering to any living thing, tends to disrupt this fine ribbon which joins two loving souls.
The knot where the ribbons uniting the two Pisces fishes are tied represents the Ego (not Freud’s ego) which is common to both souls, and which is the eternal spark of Deity by which they are energized.
Soul-mates and angelhood
The two souls and their Ego form a distinct soul-mates system which, when organized as a distinctive inner-plane entity, becomes a true spiritual cell in the cosmic body. It is commonly referred to as an angel.
It no longer belongs to four-dimensional existence, but by virtue of its new capabilities is typical of the truly spiritual five-dimensional plane.
The two souls comprising the angel do not lose their identity; no more so than Venus and Mars lose their identity because they both belong to the solar system.
Liberty of action on the part of each soul is still retained; but before they are permanently united in a single five-dimensional form – as the two fishes with their ribbon have a single form and yet each fish has wide liberty of action – they must have realized their cosmic work.
As an angel they perform the function in the cosmic scheme for which they have been specially educated by their experiences; and in this work they have complementary abilities. Each supplies certain talents which enables them to do their special cosmic work.
Those capable of uniting through the endless belt of finer energies, that ultimately provide the form of an angel, will not have diverse or conflicting interests. Divergent interests, through centering the mind strongly on different things, tend to disrupt or dissipate the endless belt of energy flowing between two people.
The finer energies tend to flow where the attention, aims and aspirations are directed and when the interests of both individuals are centered on the same things there is no dividing of the energy stream, and their forces flow along a single channel. This strengthens the bond between them.
The conditions which most favor the strengthening of the endless belt of finer energies that flows between and unites those who are deeply in love are the desire to be as helpful and beneficial as possible to all creatures, active engagement in a common work by which this is chiefly accomplished, and the cultivation of tenderness and sympathy for each other.
Neptune, the upper-octave planet ruling Pisces, is idealistic in its expression so those who cultivate this highest expression of love on Earth find it advantageous to idealize all they do. When doing they keep the image of their loved one in mind and they do for their sake and not because of duty.
All that is accomplished is done for love. And the love motive becomes so powerful, under such cultivation, that hardships are not recognized. Life is filled with joy, and great accomplishment results.
The joy coincident with the establishment of the endless belt of love is only a small feature of its advantage. Its power to accomplish, working from the four-dimensional astral plane, when embedded with loving and constructive thoughts is truly amazing.
It’s the inner force which makes faith, even of the size of a mustard seed, able to move mountains.
In spiritual astrology the key-phrase related to Pisces and the two fishes united by a ribbon of love is: Love is the tree of life, and its fruit is universal brotherhood.
