Throughout the ages astrologers gathered astrological knowledge and thanks to Claudius Ptolemy, writing in the second century, Aquarian Age practitioners and fortune-tellers now have access to their thoughts and ideas. But today is a vastly different time and place.
Ancient Egypt wasn’t connected. Ptolemy didn’t have access to the internet and breaking news. He experienced the place where he lived but his capacity to experience the world around him was extremely limited.
His writings connect eclipses with disasters: now disaster watching is a spectator sport watched by millions of viewers. It’s the age when dangerous weather and natural disasters threaten the lives of millions of people. You can watch them develop, track them and share in the devastation. Most occur without an eclipse.
So how can we be sure that Ptolemy’s knowledge of eclipses is right?
Astronomers will tell you that a total solar eclipse happens when the Moon moves in front of the Sun and blocks out nearly all of its light. They refer to the event as an ‘occultation.
Hermetic astrology explains that the Moon’s nodes are two points where the Moon cuts across the apparent orbit of the Sun. The north node is called the Dragon’s Head and the south node is called the Dragon’s Tail. And when the Sun at New Moon is farther than 19 degrees from the Dragon’s Head or Tail, no eclipse can take place; but when the Sun-Moon union occurs within 15 degrees of either node, a solar eclipse occurs.
The traditional teaching is that an eclipse, particularly an eclipse of the Sun, indicates some disaster in the region where it is visible. Symbolically, the Sun is being devoured by the dragon, or in the case of a partial eclipse, the dragon gnaws at the disk of the Sun.
The union of the Sun and Moon to ancient peoples was the symbol of the union of the ego (not Freud’s ego) and the soul – that is of mind and spirit.
The Moon has ever been the symbol of the indwelling soul; and the dragon represents harsh environmental forces, which tend toward the development of primitive, animal traits of character – the cruel instincts (of Mars) and selfishness (of Saturn) – which shut out the Sun’s light of spirit, and eclipse the soul.
To the extent an eclipse is total does it represent a spectacle representing the soul or spirit being devoured and destroyed by the powers of darkness associated with the harsh and selfish struggle with physical environment.
And on April 8, 2024 a total solar eclipse will blackout parts of Mexico, America and Canada.
In America the path of total darkness runs through Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, a tiny piece of Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.
In Canada in runs through Southern Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Cape Breton.
The Sun’s light will be eclipsed for up to 4 minutes and 28 seconds.

New-Moon eclipse chart Washington

Chart data is April 8, 2024 at 2.20.50pm EDT Washington (77W01; 38N53)
At first glance the chart looks tame. The Moon-Sun eclipse is conjunction Mercury (wind and hot air) and semisextile Jupiter and Uranus but the devil is in the detail. The Sun at 7N35 and the Moon at 7N54 are both parallel Mars at 7S48 and Saturn at 7S40 and their in-sky conjunction culminates April 10.
Violent Mars and grief-stricken Saturn are in house 8 (debt and death).
Mars and Saturn are typically associated with disaster: violent destruction, fire, accident, storm, flood, loss and devastation. But the disaster forecast by the eclipse (and Mars conjunction Saturn in the sky) should not be defined by these more obvious event parameters. It’s inclined to occur between March 23 and April 28, 2024 > the forecast period for the in-sky Mars-Saturn conjunction.
Eclipse event March 26, 2024: A massive cargo ship crippled by a loss of power (Saturn) rams into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, sending it crashing (Mars) into the Patapsco River. Six workers (house 6) are killed (house 8). The disaster (Mars) forced the closure of the Port of Baltimore, the ninth-busiest major port in the US in terms of cargo volume and value.
The eclipse chart for Mexico has Mars and Saturn in house 9.
And with the eclipse occurring at the same time as Mars conjunction Saturn in the sky tagging any disaster with its actual parent might be tricky.
In regard to the Moon’s nodes aka the Dragon’s Head and Tail referred to earlier they’re two imaginary points in the sky that are often given significance by fortune-tellers. The Dragon’s Head is associated with Venus and Jupiter – the good guys – and the Dragon’s Tail with Mars and Saturn – the bad guys.
There are many websites providing detailed explanations of the dragons in your chart and their sign locations but it’s all old Piscean Age superstition aka delusion that fortune-tellers find fascinating.
And the eclipse on April 8, 2024 won’t affect you personally even if you do happen to have the Sun, Moon or ascendant in the nineteenth degree of Aries although Aquarian Age technology will allow you to vicariously participate in any disaster event that happens to occur.
