The struggle to live brings forth certain qualities in every life form. It learns how to procure food, shelter itself from the devastating elements of nature, reproduce its kind and, in an environment where a myriad of other individuals are in competition to secure the same benefits, fight for its right to live.
Among the wild animals we know that the larger and more powerful will seek to destroy the smaller and weaker, and use them for sustenance. Because of this the smaller and weaker animals develop abilities that will enable them to attack and kill creatures many times their size.
Every life form is subject to constant exposure to danger from enemies. This develops an alertness and finally a technique peculiar to the species concerned.
Notice the many kinds of horns that grow on animal heads, each beast having a particular method of using these weapons. A single ram on a narrow pass has been known to drive off a whole pack of wolves by the skillful use of its horns.
The porcupine grows quills and certain lizards have spikes on their tails. One might say that a skunk has an ‘aggressive fluid’ for defense. Probably the most aggressive of all four-footed animals is the wolverine, which according to various accounts is the most daring, cunning, and destructive of creatures.
Many plants display this same quality arming themselves with thorns and spines which inflict pain on enemies. We can think of cacti, roses, berry bushes, palm trees, nettles that sting, poison ivy and poison oak.
The creatures of the sea show the same tendency. We find the sharp-toothed shark, sword fish, marlin, life sucking lamprey, stingaree, and octopus with its deadly tentacles. The human is no exception. Wherever you look in the natural world you’ll find thoughts of aggression, cruelty, lust, hatred, anger and passion evident.
Considering nature from this standpoint we see no pretty picture, but we are reminded of the saying ‘nature preys upon itself.’ This is undoubtedly true, yet within this seeming slaughter lies a wise provision of balance.
If all life forms were allowed to propagate unmolested the earth would soon be overrun by vast hordes and the result would be unthinkable. Evolutionary development would be arrested and the opportunity for establishing certain character traits would be lost.
Naturally the lower forms of life reacted spontaneously, crudely and ferociously to danger, fear and the desire to live but as the scale of life ascends we find cunning and more intelligence in handling similar situations.
However, even in humans today those age-old traits need control and direction, for while reason and understanding have aided humanity immensely the constructive side of living will bear much improvement.
If you want to understand the strength of these ingredients in your astral make-up look to Mars in your birth chart. It’s the planet that indicates the aggressive thought-elements built into your finer body.
Every day you think thoughts about destruction and construction, strife, combat, anger and lust and in the process you add another quota of energy to these qualities already established within you. us. When reinforced they will bring either fortune or misfortune into your life.
Many forms of destruction are as necessary as those which are constructive. Think of the work of doctors, surgeons, soldiers, aviators, motion picture stars, mechanics and engineers for their occupations demand aggressive qualities.
Discordant aggressive thinking is responsible for most accidents, cuts, burns, operations, contagious diseases, blood poison, malaria and kidney trouble.
