The practice of mental alchemy requires knowledge pertaining to the Sun and Moon in astrology and your birth chart.
The Sun in your birth chart, because it represents your most persistent and deep-seated qualities, rules your individuality. And the Moon, because it depicts the less deep-seated mental factors which were originated by the experiences of your soul on its evolutionary journey, rules your mentality.
And whatever lies inherent in your individuality, or is perceived by your mentality, must be transmitted into external expression through your physical body.
It’s mapped by the ascendant in your chart and because it’s the point where your active individuality and mentality meet, and your entire astral body is grounded, it rules your personality.
The three points of this triangle – the Sun, Moon and ascendant – have been symbolized from ancient times by a circle, a crescent and a cross indicating the union of spirit, soul and body.
In actual astrological practice, the Sun rules your ego or spirit, the Moon rules your soul or mind, and the ascendant rules your personality or body.
The symbols used for all the planets are formed from the circle, crescent and cross. They are joined together in combinations that actually portray the manner in which their observed influence expresses physical, mental and spiritual qualities.
Life
Hermetic astrology teaches that life depends upon the action and reaction of positive and negative forces; and the Sun typifies the masculine, positive creative force in nature and the Moon typifies the feminine, negative force. It’s the union of these two forces that makes your life possible.
It teaches that the Sun is the source of all power, and the Moon is the mother of its manifestation. The ancient Egyptians referred to them as Osiris and Isis.
Thus, the Earth may be considered the womb of nature, or the point where the masculine electric rays of the Sun are embraced by the feminine magnetic rays of the Moon.
The Sun rule your positive etheric energies*, and the Moon rules your negative etheric energies and their interaction – the masculine solar energy with feminine lunar energy – gives life to your physical body.
By permeating your physical body and traversing your nerves as currents these positive and negative etheric energies permit the astral energies of your astral body to reach and alter the cells and tissues of your physical form.
Physical health and the Sun and Moon
The Universe and you are the result of creative design. The visible parts of your physical body, each organ, and each physical function has its correspondence in the sky; and due to their more direct influence over the etheric medium by which thought or planetary energies contact your physical self the Sun and Moon are the most important planets in natal astrology.
The Sun has a positive controlling influence. It rules your vitality and has direct rule over your heart which is the vital organ of your physical life.
The Moon through its magnetic and enfolding qualities, rules the breasts, stomach and fluidic system. It rules the constitutional magnetism, influences the medulla oblongata and base of the brain where magnetic energy is stored, the fluidic and lymphatic systems of the body and its nutritive functions. It has a decided influence upon the action of the back pituitary gland and thymus gland, and governs the water and salt solution of the body and Vitamin B2.
The Sun rules your front pituitary gland and it’s related to your back pituitary in much the same as the Sun is related to the Moon. To a great extent they control the electromagnetic tone of your body.
The Sun rules gold and the Moon rules silver and both metals, or the forces and principles for which they stand, are essential in the universe, world affairs and your life.
But when nations or individuals ruled by the Sun undertake to aggrandize self by abusing the rights, comforts and needs of the common people ruled by the Moon their inner gold, which they use as the ‘power behind the throne’, becomes tarnished and loses its power.
*Etheric energies
To your senses space aka ether seems empty, but it’s not. Space transmits heat, light, chemical energy and wireless waves. It produces magnetism when stressed or strained and forms positive and negative charges of electricity when sheared. It’s taken for granted that the ether has the physical property of transmitting electromagnetic waves; and the electromagnetism produced transmits energy from the outer-physical-plane to the inner-astral-plane, and from the inner plane to the outer plane.
In Hermetic astrology the term etheric energy refers primarily to electromagnetic energy that has a speed approximate to light and which exists in a boundary line region between the low-speed physical world and the high-speed astral world.
The essential difference between etheric energy aka electromagnetism and physical energy is its velocity.
A physical thing like your physical body has a low velocity and an astral thing like your astral body has a high velocity and the high frequency etheric energy produced by the cells of your physical body is the means by which states of consciousness are transmitted between your astral body and physical form.
You have a normal supply of etheric energy. Nerve currents are etheric energy. Your thoughts set etheric frequencies in motion.
The belt of etheric energy about the Earth is set in motion by the feelings of animals and humans who are activated by animal propensities.
Materialistic neuroscience assumes you’re hard-wired to do this, that and the other. It refers to permanent electronic circuits or connections produced by the thoughts your brain thinks. But your brain’s electrical discharges are not thoughts. Your brain cells do not fire off information. They fire electrical impulses that produce an electromagnetic field that permits the transmission of thoughts and feelings from your astral brain to objective consciousness.
Neuroscience is tricked by an illusion. The electronic circuits it observes are the physical replica of thought-cell compounds in your astral body mapped by the Sun, Moon and Mercury in your birth chart.
