The practice of mental alchemy requires knowledge pertaining to Jupiter in astrology and your birth chart.
In Greek mythology Jupiter was Zeus: the supreme god and father-ruler of all humankind who dispensed good and evil.
In Roman mythology Jupiter aka Jove was god of the sky. The son of Saturn, he married his sister Juno and reigned on Mount Olympus. He was the chief protector in battles and the bestower of victory.
In astrology, due to its capacity to protect from danger, Jupiter is known as the primary benefactor. It’s responsible for more good than any other planet and is estimated to influence one half of the good fortune experienced by humanity and you.
Jupiter cuts the Sun’s energy field and transforms and transmits an astral frequency that is optimistic, cheerful, generous and benevolent.
Jupiter is electric, masculine, positive and harmonious. It’s the universal principle in nature that expresses benevolence, goodwill, charity and good fellowship. It rules the mental factors designated as the religious urges. They radiate warmth, veneration, hope, reverence and spirituality.
With Jupiter feeling preponderates: there’s noble aspiration, generosity, expansion and goodwill. It’s characterized by goodness and actions that are moral and virtuous. Jupiter is magnanimous, just, charitable and honest. It proclaims live and let live.
Jupiter is the planet of abundance and the giver of gifts. It brings health, wealth and affluence: gains that can come without effort or as the result of favor inspired by good deeds, good cheer and generosity.
Jupiter is very inclined to help others. It gives aid and assistance. It does acts of charity. It’s the planet of philanthropy. You have helping skills – a capacity to provide and give help. You’re inclined to help someone when you can empathize with their need or distress.
Jupiter rules professional work, legal matters, charities, banking, publishing, religion, clergymen, philosophy, finances, times of plenty, the rich, luxury possessions, goodwill, salesmanship, patronage and general good luck.
Jupiter is a salesman and it’s happiest when selling.
All successful doctors and most of those who succeed in other professional work, or who, like salesmen, depend upon good will for patronage, have the Jupiter thought-elements prominent in the makeup of their unconscious mind.
Your backstory
Various experiences in lower forms of life have built religious mental factors into your astral body; and Jupiter in your birth chart tells your religious backstory. An awareness of these experiences adds to your self-knowledge.
Many lower forms of life place implicit faith in their parents. Gregarious animals that have confidence in their leader to protect and find food are developing hope.
Obedience to the ruling authority and looking to a higher power for guidance, protection and the satisfaction of wants develops reverence and veneration. And the social emotions, diverted into seeking the favor of the higher authority, take the form of devotion.
The spirit of tolerance toward other members of the group gives rise to good fellowship. Packs of wild dogs display good fellowship and domesticated dogs sublimate the same desire when they willingly perish to save their master.
Through these experiences involving tolerance, goodwill and faith and confidence in a higher authority on your evolutionary journey you acquired religious thought-elements that define your religious urge. They’re mapped in your birth chart by Jupiter.
Jupiter and you
Jupiter in your chart reveals there’s goodwill, charity and hope in your soul. It measures the relative strength of your religious thought-elements. If they’re prominent and very active they’ll influence your thinking and conduct. They’ll work to attract Jupiter type events.
Maybe you have a strong religious commitment, pursue an active religious life, seek aid from a higher power, and offer prayers for guidance and sustenance. Maybe you have a meaningful relationship with the Creator. ‘Give us this day our daily bread’ is a typical expression of Jupiter’s thought-elements.
If they’re weak and lacking energy religion won’t feature in your life. Some people don’t have it in them to be religious. They have no need for religion of worship. And they lack optimism, hope and faith when the going gets tough.
But they could share in Jupiter’s abundance life if they energetically cultivated their Jupiter type of thinking. Thought-cells release desire in proportion to the energy added to them at some time in the past through thoughts and experiences.
Jupiter’s house position specifies life-matters, activities and social relationships that will be influenced by benevolence, assistance, cheerfulness, goodwill and good fortune. You can count on the person or people indicated for help.
But you shouldn’t think that Jupiter type thinking is always beneficial just because Jupiter is a harmonious planet: and the functional status of your religious thought-cell activity is measured by the harmony or discord of Jupiter in your birth chart.
Its thinking always trends towards abundance and if it’s harmonious it can benefit your health, wealth and prosperity. You’re inclined to express cordial feelings of tolerance and good fellowship. Hope and optimism benefit your immune system; but if it’s discordant you’ll lack a sense of proportion and never know when enough is enough.
Jupiter discord
Jupiter discord expresses as righteous pride, inherent superiority, conceit, boundless vanity, self-indulgence, over expansion, luxury living, love of display, over generosity, unwise optimism, over spending that injures the finances, unwillingness to consider the cost, and extravagance when satisfying spontaneous whimsical desires and entertaining associates.
With Jupiter how much it costs has nothing to do with how much it’s worth.
Jupiter likes to make a big impression. It’s very self-indulgent. It has a hedonistic approach to life: a life enriched by spending money and buying objects. It has a desire for comfort, luxury and opulence. It wants more, more, more… than the Jones’s.
Its wealth permits consumption and more wealth permits more consumption. Big is better. For many shopping, spending and pursuing all the pleasure that money can buy is a religious ritual.
An immature Jupiter is inclined to believe that wealth and prosperity are rewards from God. It self-indulges on extravagant purchases. It sees upward mobility as a surging increase in personal wealth. It lives for today, because tomorrow, if it comes, will be tougher.
A discordant Jupiter is unintelligent and careless. Carelessness can harm your finances and an overabundance of certain dietary and non-dietary requirements can harm your physical health and wellbeing.
Autointoxication (poisoning by a toxin formed within the body itself) is due to an abundance of substances in the blood; catarrh and carbuncles are manifestations of a blood stream overloaded with incompletely oxidized fatty acids from rich foods; and fatty tumors are an effort to take care of an excess of fuel.
Consuming more fats than the body can properly handle can give rise to ketosis or to biliousness.
Ketosis is a metabolic state in which ketones (beta-Hydroxybutyrate, a chemical made by the body that provides energy) become an important source of energy for the body and brain. The body starts using fat as its main source of fuel due to low carbohydrate intake and low insulin levels.
Biliousness or gastric distress is a disorder of the liver or gall bladder.
Jupiter’s surfeit and gluttony is solely responsible for the global obesity epidemic.
Jupiter rules the pancreas and its hormone secretion insulin: and due to its careless tendency to overload the body with more starches and sugars than the insulin supply can handle it’s solely responsible for the type-2 diabetes pandemic that’s sweeping the world.
Whatever Jupiter’s problem, it is due to a lack of careful analysis, the reliance on chance and a lack of intelligence – the inability or refusal to carefully analyze the situation.
Transmuting tin
The power, harmony or discord of Jupiter in your birth chart gives you insight into your religious urge. It reveals that there’s goodwill, good fellowship and a desire for abundance and prosperity in your soul.
Jupiter in your birth chart represents the tin you have to work with.
Tin is a soft, silvery white metal that belongs to the carbon family. It’s known for its malleability, ductility, and resistance to corrosion, making it useful in various alloys and as a protective coating for other metals and is widely used for plating steel cans, bearings and solder.
Tin normally has a rather high vibratory rate so it’s not difficult to transmute.
Religious aspirations, actions of goodwill, devotion to charity and reverence of the mighty works of Deity transmute easily due to their intense vibratory rates but an excess should be fluxed with an adequate amount of mercury. It must be purified by a discernment of the effect each circumstance is having on your soul.
So, if nature has brought you an abundance of tin make sure you gain an equal amount of mercury. Careful examination of problems needs to replace over optimism, the blind reliance on chance and letting things take their own course in the hope that all will turn out all right.
Your religious aspirations can be made effective when fluxed with a big dose of careful reasoning. Unless there’s plenty of mercury devotion readily becomes fanaticism. Religious zealots reject reason in favor of belief.
Analyze your actions, discriminate and resolutely apply your intelligence when giving endowments to so called worthy causes. Replace indiscriminate giving with wise consideration. True generosity is far more complex than commonly recognized. Your giving has to reap benefits and knowing what assistance to give is not easy. It requires discernment of the effect of your giving on the receiver.
Jupiter runs on non-logical impulse. If the price is high, it must be better! The only way to transmute the inclination is to be carefully rational in all you do.
Jupiter is inviting you to develop an attitude of gratitude; and to temper your conceit, vanity and misguided air of superiority with intellect.
In a harsh and selfish world your benevolence can do a tremendous amount of good. Philanthropy and social welfare work inspire moral uplift. When you use your tin – wealth, social position, educational status and religious aspirations – to further universal construction and foster social advancement you’re responding to the better angels in your soul.
As an Aquarian Age soul you can make a difference. You can lift yourself up through sheer nobility of purpose. You can speed the development of your spiritual consciousness by developing your one outstanding talent and applying it in a way that benefits others and contributes to universal welfare.
Jupiter preaches: ‘Whatsoever you plant, that shall you reap.’
