The seven metals

The seven metals of alchemy are related to the seven lower octave planets in astrology.

Gold relates to the Sun, silver to the Moon, quicksilver to Mercury, copper to Venus, iron to Mars, tin to Jupiter and lead to Saturn.

Your spiritual gold is mapped by the Sun in your birth chart. It represents your point of contact with your spiritual ego: your spark of deity.

Gold needs no transmutation, having the distinction of being the perfect metal. This point corresponds to the power urges in your astral body and represents the motivating force of your life. It can be polluted by combining with other impure metals and this lessens your spirituality.

The type of experiences sought by the spiritual alchemist that correspond to the metal silver are represented in your chart by the Moon: the domestic urges in your astral body. They have to do with your domestic impulses and parenthood.

The awakening of tender affections untinged with selfish interest in your domestic relations quickly transmutes the silver experiences of life into the pure gold of spirituality. And parental love can be easily expanded to embrace the whole human race.

Quicksilver is the metal represented by Mercury and its place in your birth chart indicates the intellectual urges in your astral body.

Mercury represents your conscious thoughts and is easily transmuted into the first matter and converted by the reverberatory furnace into spiritual gold by consciously cultivating true thoughts of spirituality.

Mentally seeking to find truth in the laboratory of life and laboring unceasingly with your mind filled with thoughts of love for humanity you’ll soon build habit systems of thought that cause amalgams to be formed with all other metals and assist in the transmutation of the whole.

Venus in your chart indicates the copper of the spiritual alchemist and the social urges in your astral body. It furnishes you with compassion, refinement, affection and a love of the artistic and beautiful. But when tarnished instead of being transmuted into spiritual gold the verdigris of licentiousness, that eats the vitals of spirituality and poisons your soul, manifests.

This type of copper brought about the downfall of Ancient Rome.

Experiences with love, sympathy and affection are the metal sought by the spiritual alchemist. They give strength, endurance and life to the other metals so that they might all in time become transmuted into enduring jewels of the soul in that blessed abode: the spiritual realms.

Mars, in your chart, represents the iron of the alchemist and the point of the aggressive urges in your astral body. This iron furnishes you with energy, courage, resistance and forcefulness. In character, it represents your selfish animal propensities and constructive and destructive faculties.

You call on your aggressive urge when you enter into warfare with the pernicious and licentious thoughts that can destroy your soul. It must be used to tear down and destroy belief systems and such social conditions that threaten to destroy the spiritual life of society; and tempered to a sword of finest steel, it must be turned against the legions of darkness that infest the lower astral realms.

Placed in the reverberatory furnace of universal love it must be forged into an instrument of construction. Positive aggressive spiritual thoughts must dominate your soul as you labor persistently to spread the light of truth in behalf of society.

This is the true cosmic lesson that is mapped by Mars in your birth chart as indicated by its house position.

Jupiter in your chart maps the place of the religious urges in your astral body and tin in alchemy. On its higher side your thoughts turn to deity and the immense privileges extended to you as a human soul. You’re inclined to express nobility of purpose, true charity toward the downtrodden, good cheer and genial warmth. Your spirit of generosity caters to the needs of others but spiritual discernment is required in order to discern the soul-needs of those you are desirous of helping.

If it’s tarnished, you’ll express conceit, feelings of being superior to others, love of luxurious living and extravagance.

The place of Saturn in your chart corresponds to the safety urges in your astral body. Its house position indicates experiences directly affected by lead in alchemical works.

These experiences – hardship, disease, heavy responsibilities, dull labor, despondency, melancholy thoughts – are part of your training and equipment: and to transmute them into spiritual gold you need, more than ever, to recognize that all life is interdependent; and your only possible excuse for existence and only hope of survival in spiritual realms is your value to cosmic society which can manifest here and now as service rendered to others.

These seven metals represent the completion of the experiences of life.

The three upper octave planets represent the possibilities after transmutation is complete and correspond to higher types of transmuted thought in the work of the alchemist.

Uranus represents the quicksilver of Mercury after it has transmuted into spiritual gold as the individualistic urges of your astral body embrace a new field of endeavor that will unfold as your life proceeds.

Neptune represents the copper of Venus after its transmutation into spiritualized love for all life forms. It brings the realization that all life is One.

Pluto represents the silver of the Moon and your domestic urges after their transmutation as you embrace your cosmic work and move off into the new angelic sphere. With your true soul mate, in an angelic form, you’ll go about the business of a master in realms far beyond the comprehension of puny human intelligence.
