The present world situation which is considered by many to be a crisis is the response of humanity to the impact of astrological energies which have taken on new characteristics due to being polarized to the Aquarian Age.
The vernal equinox has not backed into the constellation Aquarius, and will not do so for another five or six hundred years. But it has backed 30 degrees from the first of Aries among the constellations, marked by the most brilliant and conspicuous star of the constellation, Alpha Arietis.
And as the signs are each 30º in extent, and not of varying lengths as are the constellations, the equinox backed into the sign Aquarius in 1881.
Hermetic astrology charts the influence of the planets by the signs they occupy – not the constellations – so, by the rules of astrology which give precedence to the signs, the world has now entered the Aquarian Age.
Hermetic astrology teaches that when the planets move from one sign into another their essential characteristics do not change. Mars is still aggressive and violent, the Sun is still authoritative and vital, Venus is still mild and affectionate, and Jupiter is still opulent and benign.
Their pitch or tone is the same, but in each sign the tone quality, or resonance of influence, is different: And when a planet moves from one sign into another this tone quality changes, as does a tone when sounded first on a wood instrument and then on one of brass.
In the change from one astrological age to another, it is not one planet alone which changes its tone quality, but all ten, and even the resonance of all twelve signs is modified; for the whole general force in which their energies are active changes as the equinox carries all into the precessional sign.
This means that the astrological energies which made impact upon the soul, or unconscious mind, of every man, woman and child on Earth from 1881 to 1952 were rapidly changing in their resonance or tone quality.
Now your behavior and the events which are attracted into your life are determined by just two factors: (1) the thought-cell activity within your soul and (2) the facilities offered by your environment which responds to the thought-cell pressure.
The nature and special trends of your thought-cell activity are not determined by the planets, but by your character as it exists at any given time. But a release of astrological energy mapped by a progressed aspect gives specified thought-cells unusual activity and modifies their customary trend of harmony or discord. And this stimulated thought-cell activity influences your behavior and attracts events into your life.
In the transition from one age to another, during which the entire field of force from which signs and planets make their influence felt changes, as occurred from 1881 to 1952, the conditions affecting humanity are comparable to a progressed aspect in your life.
A changing field of force sets up a current in a suitable conductor; and the changing field of force marking the transition from the precessional sign Pisces to the precessional sign Aquarius, gave new and unusual energies to the thought-cells of every human soul.
The thought-cell activity of humanity as a whole was stimulated. And because of this increase of thought-cell activity, people’s behavior was different, and it attracted and was affected by events of great consequence.

In the Sun section of the Aquarian Age totalitarian dictators attempted to take control of the world and the discovery of Pluto in 1930 coincided with the Great Depression and the economic suffering that went on for years and years.
Pluto’s discovery set the stage for the East-West divide and the political polarization that afflicts the world today.
Character attracts events, not the planets
What happens in your life when a given progressed aspect sets up unusual thought-cell activity is primarily determined by your character.
The planets furnish the new supply of energy which the thought-cells use: they determine which group of thought-cells will become active. And your physical environment, by its resistance to certain events and its facilities for others, has an influence that profoundly modifies the specific event that’s attracted.
So, don’t lose sight of the fact that the most important factor of all in attracting any event which comes into your life is your character that is comprised of thought-cells.
And don’t lose sight of the fact that what happens to humanity during the Pluto period of the Sun section of the Aquarian Age is not primarily due to the field of force from which the astrological energies are expressing, but to the collective character of humanity which is responding to these energies, and the environmental conditions in which it lives.
The thought-cells of human beings the world over is being given unusual activities by great astrological changes; but the special direction those activities are taking and will take, are chiefly determined by their characters.
The final outcome of the present Pluto world crisis will depend upon the direction their thought-cell activity takes operating upon the physical environment that is the world today.
People are experiencing constructive and destructive trends which are primarily ruled by the sign Aquarius, the Sun and Pluto, but what’s going on is not being determined by these astrological influences, but by their characters.
