Her story
Meloni was born in Rome and grew up in the district of Garbatella. Her father left the family when she was 11 and in 1992 (aged 15) she joined the Youth Front, the youth wing of the Italian Social Movement, a neo-fascist political party.
She graduated from the Amerigo Vespucci Institute in 1996.
She was a member of Italy’s chamber of deputies since 2006; was appointed Minister of Youth in Silvio Berlusconi IV Cabinet in 2008; and co-founded Brothers of Italy in 2012.
A right-wing popularist and Italian nationalist she describes herself as a Christian and claims to defend ‘God, fatherland, and family’. She is opposed to abortion, euthanasia and partnerships, marriage and parenting by same-sex couples and multiculturalism. She condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Meloni is an avowed fan of fantasy (Neptune has above average power) and she and her partner Andrea Giambruno have a daughter, Ginevra.
She will govern with the support of two other conservative parties (which puts the onus on Pluto to keep everyone united).
On October 20, 2023 Meloni separated from her television journalist partner who had drawn criticism for his sexist comments.
