Elon Musk

Birth data is from his biography – Elon Musk by Walter Isaacson – where the author states: ‘At 7:30 on the morning of June 28, 1971, Maye Musk gave birth to an eight-pound, eight-ounce boy with a very large head.’ The source of the data isn’t given. The birth time won’t be absolutely accurate. It has at least a ± 5-minute margin of error. Venus moves to house 11 at 7.30.05; Mercury moves to house 12 at 7.32.25; Pluto moves to house 2 at 7.34.50; and Mars moves to house 7 at 7.37.

His chart’s astrodyne report

Jupiter – his desire for abundance, wealth, plenty and more – dominates. It’s opposition Saturn – his desire for safety, efficiency, organization and acquisition – and this high-discord separation thought compound involving the business planets indicates that impulsivity and misguided optimism impairs his business ability resulting in periods of financial loss.

Jupiter conjunction Neptune – his desire for idealism – is his big driver and he has the capacity to attract easy wealth through stock selling and to dramatize the financial possibilities of his visionary schemes.

Jupiter sextile Pluto – his desire for cooperative effort – is his best aspect.

Jupiter is parallel Mars – planet of enterprise, energized effort and strife. It’s in house 8 (his financial backers) and is cusp ruler of house 10 (his business interests).

The (non-prominent) Sun – his desire for power and control – is in the first decanate of Cancer. Canis Minor denotes moods and Musk is very emotional, easily carried away by his emotions and susceptible to domestic and other intrigues. He’s a natural born medium who’s inclined to yield to the temporary strongest influence. Sun is in house 12 and he’s easily controlled by unseen forces and astral entities of dubious quality.

Sun is sextile (harmonious-opportunity) Moon (the common, everyday people); conjunction Mercury (his facility of expression); sesquisquare (discordant-agitation) Mars (strife and conflict); and square (discordant-obstacle-frustration) Uranus (sudden reversals, unexpected change and technology).

His best quality is tenacity, but Sun discord inclines towards touchiness.

The (non-prominent, weak) Moon – his mentality and domestic urge – is in the first decanate of Virgo. Bootes denotes achievement and successful accomplishment. Musk has a restless mind that is naturally inclined to analyze all the data provided by his life experience and an amazing ability to assimilate information and tackle gigantic mental tasks.

His pragmatic, matter-of-fact, down to earth mentality feeds his desire for greater personal accomplishment.

Moon is sextile Mercury (his cerebral activity); square Saturn (fear, loss and insecurity); and square Neptune (unrealistic schemes and fantasy thinking).

His best mental quality is analysis, but Moon discord tends to make him critical.

Mercury and ascendant – his intellectual urge and personality – are in the second decanate of Cancer. It’s his dominant decanate. Hydra denotes revelation and the revealing of information through supernatural sources.

Musk is energetic, resourceful and very emotional and has a natural aptitude for being led, impressed and guided by unseen (astral) intelligences. He needs to maintain positive control over his mind and body to avoid destructive forms of mediumship. And he’s engaged in a struggle with his sexual desires and the limitations imposed by death.

Mercury is conjunction Sun (the voice of authority); conjunction ascendant (his second strongest aspect); sesquisquare Jupiter (thinking influenced by misguided optimism); semisquare Saturn (thinking influenced by anxiety and worry); and sesquisquare Neptune (wishful thinking and misleading psychic impressions.) Mercury aspecting Saturn and Neptune inclines towards negative mental states.

His best qualities are tenacity and resourcefulness, but Mercury and ascendant discord inclines towards touchiness and troublesomeness.

Jupiter (his desire for abundance), ascendant (his personality), Saturn (his safety urge), Neptune (his visionary ideals), Mercury (his intellectual urge) and Mars (his aggressive urge and desire for combat) all have prominence status.

When he was born Jupiter and Neptune were retrograde indicating some repression of their desire-urges. Jupiter turned direct in January 1998 and Neptune in October 2016. Mars (his sex drive) turned retrograde in July 1984 when he was 13; and Mercury (his cerebral activity and speech) turned retrograde in January 2017.

Worst aspect in his chart is Saturn opposition Neptune (extreme high and low emotional mood swings); then Mercury (his deductive reasoning) square Uranus (radical ideas and high-nervous tension).

Musk is an Aquarian Age mover and shaker: a polarizing figure (Pluto) who is often embroiled in controversy (Mercury) and you’ll either like him or give him the thumb down.

His story

Elon Musk became a business magnate, engineer, inventor, investor and centibillionaire. His mother Maye Musk, is a model and dietitian and his father Errol Musk is a South African electromechanical engineer, pilot, sailor, consultant, emerald dealer, and property developer. His family was wealthy. In 1980 when he was 9 his parents divorced and he chose to live with his father but they are now estranged. He has a younger brother and sister.

As a child Musk was an enthusiastic reader of books (Mercury is conjunction ascendant) and he’s attributed his success in part to having read The Lord of the Rings, the Foundation series, and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

At age ten, he developed an interest in computing and video games, teaching himself how to program from the VIC-20 user manual; and at age 12 sold his BASIC-based game Blastar to PC and Office Technology magazine for about $500.

In 1989 Musk briefly attended the University of Pretoria before immigrating to Canada at age 18, acquiring citizenship through his Canadian-born mother.

In 1991 he matriculated at Queen’s University at Kingston. He later transferred to the University of Pennsylvania and received bachelor’s degrees in economics and physics. He moved to California in 1995 to attend Stanford University, but dropped out after two days and co-founded online software company Zip2 with his brother Kimbal (house 3).

In March 1999 Musk co-founded X.com, a direct bank and in March 2000 it merged with Conformity (PayPal). That’s when his desire for greater personal accomplishment accelerated. On March 14, 2002 he founded SpaceX and in October 2002, eBay acquired PayPal for $1.5 billion.

In 2004, Musk became an early investor in electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Motors, Inc; and in 2008 he assumed the position of CEO and became the company’s chairman and product architect.

In 2006, he helped create SolarCity, a solar-energy company that was acquired by Tesla in 2016 to became Tesla Energy.

In 2015, he co-founded OpenAI, a nonprofit artificial intelligence research company; and in 2016 he co-founded Neuralink – a neurotechnology company (Mercury-Uranus) that aims to integrate the human brain with artificial intelligence by creating devices that facilitate its merging with machines – and the Boring Company, a tunnel construction company.

In 2018, the US Securities and Exchange Commission sued Musk, alleging that he had falsely announced that he had secured funding for a private takeover of Tesla. To settle the case, Musk stepped down as the chairman of Tesla and paid a $20 million fine.

On April 25, 2022 Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion; in March 2023 he founded xAI, an artificial intelligence company; and in July 2023 Twitter got rebranded X.

Musk is one of the wealthiest people in the world. In January 2021 he was the world’s richest person and in April 2024Forbes estimated his net worth at $178 billion. (Whatever his personal wealth – Jupiter-Neptune – the Moon in house 2 of his chart indicates that his personal finances are subject to constant fluctuation.)

Musk has been married twice and both marriages ended in divorce. He’s an outspoken advocate of increasing the world’s population and he’s fathered eleven children by several partners. His first child, Nevada Alexander Musk, died of sudden infant death syndrome in 2002. His children include two sets of twins and one of triplets. In 2022, his eldest surviving child (from his first set of twins) officially changed her first name to Vivian to reflect her gender identity as a trans woman and her last name to Wilson because she no longer wished to be associated with Musk.

(Jupiter – the planet of abundance – is conjunction Neptune – in house 5 [children] and with Mercury, in house 1 [him], sesquisquare Jupiter and Neptune and Jupiter and Neptune opposition Saturn he’s inclined to experience sudden estrangement and separation from his children.)

Musk became a US citizen in 2002 and lived in California before relocating to Texas in 2020.

Whilst hosting Saturday Night Live in May 2021 he stated that he has Asperger syndrome although he has never been medically diagnosed.

(The Aquarian Age web will tell you that Asperger’s syndrome is considered a high-functioning form of autism spectrum disorder that affects how individuals behave, perceive the word and interact with others. People with the developmental disability may exhibit special interests, repetitive behaviors, and heightened or diminished reactions to sensory input but there is no specific medical test to determine the disorder.)

In his leisure time Musk plays video games including Quake, Diablo IV, Elden Ring, and Polytopia. He admits to using ketamine (Neptune) occasionally for depression (Saturn) and the Wall Street Journal repeatedly alleges he uses it and other drugs (Neptune) recreationally (house 5).

Musk is President of the Musk Foundation, a private grantmaking foundation he founded in 2002 with his brother, Kimbal. They are the sole officers of the foundation which according to its website makes grants in support of five areas, some of which intersect with Musk’s business ventures: renewable energy research and advocacy, human space exploration research and advocacy, pediatric research, science and engineering education, and the development of safe artificial intelligence to benefit humanity. Charitable recipients include international aid nonprofits such as Doctors Without Borders, healthcare organizations such as World Spine Care, and the co-educational Mirman School for Gifted Children.

With Jupiter conjunction Neptune Musk has bigger than big dreams and the world needs big dreamers. He’s envisioned (Neptune) a high-speed transportation system known as the Hyperloop, and has proposed a VTOL supersonic jet aircraft with electric fan propulsion, known as the Musk electric jet.

His stated goals for SolarCity, Tesla Motors, and SpaceX revolve around his vision (Neptune) to change the world and humanity. They include reducing global warming through sustainable energy production and consumption, and reducing the ‘risk of human extinction’ by ‘making life multiplanetary’ by setting up a human colony on Mars.

Sun in his chart is square (obstacle) Uranus (change) and while Neptune (his ideal world) is sextile Pluto (the universal welfare planet) it’s opposition Saturn (cold hard reality and loss) so his spectacular vision to change the world using Aquarian Age technology is inclined to fail. It seems that as an adult he still engages in the fantasy thinking (Mercury sesquisquare Neptune) and leisure time activities (house 5) he formed and developed as a child. Progressed Neptune opposition birth chart Saturn in his chart reaches peak power in June 2073.
